Privacy Policy – Aruba Taxi App & Aruba Driver App

This Privacy Policy describes how ArubaTaxiApp collects, uses, and protects the information of users and drivers who use our mobile applications: the Aruba Taxi App (for passengers) and the Aruba Taxi Driver App (for licensed taxi drivers in Aruba).

1. Who We Are

ArubaTaxiApp is a ride-dispatch platform connecting passengers with licensed, independent taxi drivers in Aruba. We do not operate a fleet of vehicles nor employ drivers. Our role is strictly to facilitate ride requests and communication between users and drivers.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information that helps us operate our platform safely and effectively.

A. Information You Provide:

Account details: Name, email address, phone number.
Driver-specific info: Valid taxi driver permit, vehicle details, driver’s photo, car photo, permit photo.
Ride request details: Pickup location, drop-off location, number of passengers, luggage count.

B. Automatically Collected Information:

GPS Location Data: Collected during active rides and app usage for navigation and trip tracking.
Background Location Data (Drivers only): We collect background location data from drivers even when the app is not actively in use, but still running in the background. This is required to:
- Accurately dispatch rides to nearby drivers.
- Monitor trip progress.
- Ensure rider and driver safety.
  Background location tracking is active only for verified drivers and during times the driver status is “online” in the app. Drivers can disable this by logging out or switching their status to “offline.”
SMS Permissions: Used for account verification and account login. Message and Data Rates May Apply.
Camera Access: Drivers must upload photos of themselves, their car, and permit.
Notifications: Used to alert users of ride updates and driver arrivals.
Chat Logs: Stored temporarily for quality and safety purposes.

3. How We Use Your Information

To connect users with available drivers.
To verify and onboard licensed taxi drivers.
To send ride updates, verification codes, and alerts.
To enable in-app chat between drivers and passengers.
To provide customer support.
To maintain platform safety and integrity.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Your data may be shared:

With drivers (for ride fulfillment).
With passengers (to complete the ride connection).
With law enforcement or public authorities if required by law or if there’s a safety concern.
With third-party services we use for platform functionality (e.g., Google Maps, Twilio).

5. Payment Information

Currently, all rides are paid in cash. Future versions of the app may support in-app credit card payments . ArubaTaxiApp does not store your credit card details. All transactions will be securely processed by the payment gateway provider.

6. Driver Verification

To join the ArubaTaxiApp Driver platform, a driver must:

Provide a valid taxi driver’s permit issued by Aruba’s DTP.
Upload identification and vehicle documents.
Be subject to verification by ArubaTaxiApp before activation.

We do not conduct in-depth background checks; we rely on the DTP permit as evidence of the driver’s compliance with local laws and insurance regulations.

7. Ratings and Reviews

Passengers may rate drivers after each trip. ArubaTaxiApp does not monitor or moderate these ratings unless a significant pattern of concern arises.

8. Security

We use standard industry practices to protect your information, including encryption and secure data storage. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Request access to your personal data.
Request correction or deletion of your data.
Opt-out of non-essential notifications.

10. Data Retention

We retain user and driver information for as long as necessary to fulfill operational, legal, and safety purposes. Chat logs and location history may be retained temporarily for quality control.

11. Children

ArubaTaxiApp is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we become aware that a minor has used our services, we will delete their information promptly.

12. Third-Party Services

Our platform uses:

Google Maps for location and route navigation.
First Atlantic Commerce (upcoming) for credit card processing.
Twilio for for account verification and account login.

These third parties have their own privacy policies and data handling practices. We encourage users to review them separately.

13. Updates to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes through the app or via email.
